Ellen Mekkelholt

Captivated by the raw beauty of humanity and nature, Ellen Mekkelholt paints for opportunities to discuss our people and planet. Self-taught, she is driven by a burning desire to paint artworks that will speak louder than one voice can. Both her figure and abstract paintings are intended as a tool to encourage important and, at times, tense conversations to be held in a positive or less confronting light. Topics of equality, mental health and wellness, pollution, poverty, child labour, climate change, politics, media, advertising, and consumerism all deserve more opportunities to be talked about and acted on. Ellen creates to support and open these conversations that may not occur otherwise.
