Leigh’s practice is based on observation, comparison and refinement. Leigh is inspired by nature, animals, human interaction, the importance of community, communication and connection.

 

Her resource images are captured in situ, and documented via pencil on paper rather than photographs. This is an attempt to connect with, and deeply understand her subject matter.  

 

Leigh predominately works with acrylic on aluminium, playing with the media, she encourages it to drift, weave, and combine, whilst carefully trying to maintain the energy and light that seems to underpin her subjects, whilst also balancing the work with painterly solid spaces.
