Sheree Stone

Originally from Wellington, Auckland based Sheree Stone is a MFA graduate from Whitecliffe College of Arts & Design. Her work has previously been exhibited at Nathan Homestead, Papakura Art Gallery, Faculty of Business, Manukau Institute of Technology, finalist Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award 2014, winner Clifton’s Art Prize Auckland 2015, and Demo Space, Auckland.
A commentary on disappearing local histories, Sheree’s photographic practice explores narratives surrounding Auckland’s rapidly changing urban environment. Engaging with questions surrounding Auckland’s architectural heritage her works signal the value placed on the built environment, the legacies of these sites, and the communities and way of life that they represent.
Focusing on current redevelopment and regeneration projects, largely driven by urbanisation and intensification her photographic images reveal some of Auckland City’s hidden mosaic, each site with its own individual terms of existence.
Sheree's work Untitled was the winner of the people's choice award for Capture Community Exhibition.
